Are you an upper-level French student looking for some good reading this summer? Le Petit Prince is a well-loved classic that every student of French should read. Imaginez-vous perdu dans le désert, loin de tout lieu habité, et face à un petit garçon tout blond, surgi de nulle part. Ce petit garçon vous demande avec insistance de dessiner un mouton, vous voilà plus qu’étonné ! À partir de là, vous n’aurez plus qu’une seule interrogation: savoir d’où vient cet étrange petit bonhomme et connaître son histoire…
In this summer course, we will read this book in 7 weeks, weaving in questions to discuss and explore the significant themes. Students will receive weekly vocabulary resource sheets to aid in their reading in order to come to class prepared to read and discuss elements of the story. This course is an excellent way to maintain and build students’ French abilities in preparation for the coming year or for when entering the university.
Students will read assigned portions of the book and do worksheets designed by the Instructor to help them understand the readings. Class time will be spent reading aloud and answering questions about the readings.
