Course Description
In this seven-week workshop students will write a complete short story with the option to publish it in a class anthology ebook. This course takes Story Ninjas from start-to-finish through the process of writing their own short story. Classroom discussion boards will let students peer edit and give encouragement to each other. The resources include activity sheets, free e-books, and Story Ninja books in PDF form for printout by the students.
Course Structure
One live meeting per week where students interact with Sigmund via chat and Q&A. Students also receive two recorded lessons weekly and can interact with Sigmund via the course discussion boards.
Who should enroll?
Students in 4th–6th grades who are interested in learning to write from a bestselling author and former struggling student. No previous writing experience is required.
Technology Requirements
- High speed, broadband Internet
- Sound card and working microphone (for live sessions)
- Streaming video capabilities to watch recorded lecture
Evaluation and Feedback
Though not graded, students do receive feedback on their assignments. Students can also talk with Sigmund about their writing projects during the live class and via the discussion boards. Students receive a certificate of achievement signed by Sigmund at the completion of the course.
Communication
Students will receive a welcome letter with further instructions upon enrollment.
