Getting Things Done for Teens: Taking Control of Your Life

Are you distracted by the world around you? Do you find it difficult to put away the social media and focus on what really needs to be accomplished?

Then I have a class for you!

Over the course of 7 weeks, the third installment of Secrets of Success will explore the information written by New York Times bestselling author David Allen, Mike Williams and Mark Wallace on helping teens to Get Things Done and take control of their lives in an incredibly distracting world. We will be exploring the Getting Things Done method used by business executives, artists, scientists, doctors, teachers and clergy members. This course will cover the methods and principles of this approach and give you exercises to practice organizing and capturing your thoughts. We will be taking a look at the distractions and busyness of everyday life, helping you to learn to focus and be READY for whatever happens.

Although not required students can purchase the text: Getting Things Done for Teens: Take Control of Your Life in a Distracting World, by David Allen with Mike Williams and Mark Wallace.

Class will meet for 1.0 hour per week in a live session which will include both a lecture and discussion component. We will also spend some of our time in this live session discussing practical ways to use this method. Written lectures and informational websites will also be used to enhance learning.

Parents, this class is open to you as well. Additionally, one free parent registration is offered with each student registration.

Thank you for a most excellent and invaluable class. Truly. There are a couple of things I wish every person could be exposed to and learn in school – this is one of them. Everything was organized and presented very well; and, obviously, your ability to communicate the material is exceptional…I thought the whole class was excellent. Anyway, this is just to say how much I, both as a parent and personally, appreciated the class and all you did to make it happen. Thank you.

Bonnie Gonzalez

The field of psychology is not only my career; it is also my passion. You might even call me a “psychology nerd.” Much of my free time is spent reading about new and interesting developments in the field. I have taught Introductory Psychology classes to homeschool students and college students and have taught AP Psychology for the past 13 years. Over the past four years, I also developed a series of self-improvement classes for junior high and high school students on the topics of GRIT, Growth Mindset, Getting Things Done for Teens, and Conquering Procrastination.  My teaching has also taken me into the corporate world where I have developed online seminars for healthcare providers on the topics of stress, communication, job burn-out, anger assessment and management, and boundary setting. I have 39 years of experience as a counselor in the field of individual, marriage, and family counseling where I had the opportunity to instruct individuals in developing new and more productive behaviors.  When I am not reading something new about psychology I enjoy gardening, running, and taking care of my dogs and fainting goats.  My degrees include an M.ED. in Counseling Psychology and a B.A in Psychology, both received from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.
