Course Description
This first semester course is designed to familiarize students with basic Spanish vocabulary and grammar in a variety of familiar settings and situations. Each week will have a different topic (at home, around town, at the beach, etc.), and will use pictures, stories, songs, games, and videos to help students learn and practice.
Students may also register for the second semester of this course separately or for both semesters at a discounted price. For more information and to register, see and Elementary Spanish 2 for the second semester course and Elementary Spanish for the full-year course.
Course Structure
Classes will generally follow a similar format that will include reviewing vocabulary, watching a video and/or reading a story related to the week’s topic, playing games, singing songs, etc. Students will typically be given a task to do during the week, which they may be asked to share with the class the next week.
