This course will trace critical progress relating to social, political, cultural, and economic developments dating from pre-history through the Renaissance, circa 1500 A. D. Students will gain substantial knowledge of leading figures, events and ideas and their enduring influence. They will also develop critical reasoning skills, including analysis and synthesis as they evaluate and communicate on topics including migration, trade, war, technology and disease. Students will use primary source documents, maps, graphs and artwork to better interpret various cultural perspectives and to aid their examination of history. This course will introduce students to the content, skills and themes necessary to succeed on the AP World History test and ultimately to succeed in college.
